Hi Dave,
I have a few questions for you regarding the Hyrel System 30. I teach manufacturing at a High School in Oregon and we currently have 3 printers (Replicator, Replicator 2 and an Afinia). Looking for another one.

This will be used in an educational environment:

Do you think it could hold up to the rigors of constant use?

Any possibility of using dissolvable support material in builds?

How effective is this machine using the stated variety of materials? Does it easily move from one material to another (ABS to clay with a simple extruder switch out?!?).

Five years of software upgrades included ($500 value)?!?!? Why is this necessary? Is everything proprietary so that you can't use any .stl file to print? Are we going to get stuck with unmanageable software upgrade costs after 5 years? Can I simply load my own software (such as Replicator or Slic3r). Remember, this is a high school and funding can be a difficult thing to maintain.

Ten hours of skype/TeamViewer training ($300 value). Again, why is this necessary?!? Either the folks at Hyrel are incredibly gracious and truly want to assist the user in their printing issues or the machine and it's software are incredibly difficult and prone to serious issues.

I realize I may sound a bit harsh but the funds for my purchase were very, very difficult to come by and I would like to spend them as wisely as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Ah, how the time flies.

We've been working with David for about a year now. His school purchased one of our printers, and they have since purchased two more.

Hopefully that answers any questions he raised.

I'll try to check these forums more often.
