SLM (Stainless Steel) 3D Printer - tkrill - 12-21-2013

Hello,

My name is Tyler, and I am currently working on a project you people might be interested in. Two of my peers and I are building the world's first open-sourced selective laser melting (SLM) 3D printer. If you don't know what an SLM 3D printer is, it essentially uses a high powered near infrared laser (808nm) to sequentially melt layers of metal powder (in our case stainless steel) to print an object. SLM 3D printers do currently exist, but only in industrial applications and cost in the range of half of a million dollars. If you are interested, we are running a crowd funding campaign on indiegogo. Check it out here: http://igg.me/at/SLM-3D-Printer/x/4815020.

Thanks!
Tyler
