Metalbot: Open Source 3D Metal Printing - Jethro - 11-07-2013

Hi everyone!

Please take a look at the 'Metalbot' project which we started earlier this year. We have gathered a lot of information 3D Metal printing and there are five/six people so far who will be actively designing 3D Printers for metal in 2014! We are confidant that this will be the next big thing in 3D Printing and the maker world in general.

But we are always looking for new perspectives on the challenge so take a look!

Best regards,

Jethro.

Very interesting Jethro. How would they feel about a commercial enterprise helping out?

Looks really good can't wait to see the final design.

How much do metal powders cost?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Art3D to answer your questions, we are not at that stage yet and will do everything we can to keep open source. Venture capitalists haven't really understood the power of open source at this time.

Metal powders vary wildly in price. It depends on the metal and the size of the powder particles. We are looking at making a machine that converts solid metal parts into a fine powder that we can use though! Big Grin

This technology really does have a bright future. RMIT in Melbourne Australia have a metal printer, the parts that come out of that are awesome.

(edited) typo.
